Back to Honolulu

We spent the next 5 days in Honolulu. I went to Honolulu in 1999 and the change has been significant. There has been a lot of construction around Waikiki, including a sea wall, cutting the beach space. This was the work part of my trip, so I spent most of my time at the conference and sleeping. Each day James went on an adventure: Pearl Harbor, Tantalis, more hiking, and more hiking. He truly enjoyed himself, and found one of his top 5 beaches. It was away from the tourism, of course. Together, we tried to climb Diamond Head. We made it into the crater but we were too late to go to the highest point. What we thought was going to be 3-4 miles round trip ended up being about 8 miles. We were pretty miserable - only because we weren't prepared for it!
