I want the banana!
On Monday, I was eating a banana and Emmy started grabbing for it. Since we are in the safe zone with the rice cereal, I let her pull it to her mouth. I actually mashed up a banana for her to eat but never gave it to her. There is much debate on "when" to introduce solids. The doctor definitely approved her for the cereal and just said to give 5-7 days between new foods. I am waiting a few more days to weeks before I introduce more than the cereal - just to give her little digestive track time to get used to the cereal. There is no rush, right?!
Happy Father's Day
Happy Father's Day, Daddy. I love to hang out with you on the porch!

And we love to eat your yummy food!

Although, I am really just eating cereal and drinking milk.
And, I am really enjoying this cereal thing!

I love to play!

We went out to eat and I got fed my cereal while I was in my car seat! Mommy now realizes that this is a mess waiting to happen (but I wasn't messy this night).

The poetry book is a Dubuisson inside joke, but Emmy is being read poetry (and other books) every day!

Purchases
Many of you have asked how the cloth diapering is going, and I would have to say well! Emmy is perfectly comfortable with it, James is OK with the wet diapers and I am happy as well. We just ordered 4 Thirsties all-in-one diapers. This will build our collection so we can make it through an entire day. Our sampler pack has been great to try sizes & different types of diapers. I know I like the Thirsties, but think other types would meet our needs as well.
I also purchased Emmy's High Chair today. It is a Keekaroo wooden High Chair. I love the fact that this high chair will serve multiple functions. Eventually, it will convert to a stool. I can already imagine packing up the car for college and packing up her stool!
Yesterday, we made a major family purchase. We now own a 2008 Salsa Red Toyota Highlander. It is the Sport model with a beige interior. It has 3rd row seating, rear view camera and more! My features: moonroof and power rear gate. James features: XM ready radio, auxillary port for MP3 player, MP3 CD player. We are excited to tote Emmy around safely, even in the "death of the SUV" era!

Are you Thirsty?
Hehe, so far the favorite cloth diaper is from a brand called Thirsties. The sampler package arrived yesterday and I got everything washed last night. There are so many different things to consider - snaps vs. velcro, all-in-one vs insert, etc. I am so glad that I am going through this trial program through Jillian's Drawers!
Emmy woke up this morning and pooped in her disposable! We threw that one away and have worn two different cloth diapers so far. I am going to make myself try each diaper a couple of times before I order any more cloth diapers. But, so far so good :)

The Faces of Cereal
She's long and skinny!
Here are the stats:
24 inches long (~60%)
11.6 lbs (~8%)
16 inch head circumference (~40%)
I am "remembering" the percentiles. I meant to ask for the cheat sheet where they write it down, but I forgot to ask.
Emmy has been a little fussy after the shots. I know it could be worse. I ran into one of the couples we had birthing class with. After chatting with Misty, I realized she forgot her bag in the waiting area. I took it back to their room, and their baby was crying for the fun parts...ear & eye test using toys!

Emmy's 4 Months Old!
Some of you will be pleased, some of you will be surprised, but we are going a little "green." Yesterday, I ordered a sampler pack of cloth diapers. For $10, we can try all different kinds of cloth diapers for 21 days. I hope it goes well. First, I am feeling environmentally unhealthy throwing away all of the diapers we go through. Second, it may save us a little $ :) I figure it is going to be a little like breast feeding, the start up is expensive (pump, pads, etc.) but if you stick with it, it will pay itself off. Watch for updates on the the cloth diapers!
Emmy's going green!

On Saturday, we celebrated Emmy's 4 month birthday. We can't believe that she is already 4 months old! Time is going by so quickly. I can't give you her "stats" until tomorrow, though. We have our appointment with the pediatrician at 9 am. Cross your fingers that she does OK with the shots. She did really well with the shots at 2 months. She didn't have any bad reactions, but she did bleed ALOT.

Look, I found a new toy, and it is connected to me! She is really playing with both feet a lot lately.

I like my blocks.

And, I really love my Disney. Daisy too, but Daisy doesn't stay by me long enough for a picture.

Here is my "toothy" grin. Those teeth aren't too far away.
Kisses for everyone!
